Renowned for his large-scale interior paintings, Peter de Graaff, a resident artist at the Rijksakademie from1990 to 1992, has in the last two years turned to outdoor landscapes with figures. De Graaff uses a photographic background of a projected scenic image, on which he paints romantic or historical figures and then embeds them in a layer of epoxy.
His "manoeuvres" are small mixed-media collages made using a variety painting techniques and applied materials on photo backgrounds.
